Artists and performers from around the globe will create, design and entertain Portland this September for the Portland Institute of Contemporary Arts’ Time-Based Art Festival. This exciting annual event features contemporary visual and performing arts in unique public spaces that inject the city with a vibrant energy and cultural buzz. Check out incredible live performances, art exhibits and installations in theaters, pop-up galleries, and unexpected venues throughout Portland, Oregon.
Indulge your curiosity, challenge your perspectives and immerse your spirit in art around the clock – from morning workshops and afternoon talks to evening stage shows and midnight music. The 11th edition of the Portland TBA Festival is an all-hours forum for the expression of new art, ideas and experiences. Celebrating creativity and the imagination, the TBA Festival illuminates the intersection of art and life and takes audiences on a journey of artistic discovery and the search for truth.
Portland’s TBA Festival presents intimate art exhibits, performing arts, dance, live music workshops, film screenings, programs and talks, including Portland-based Third Angle New Music, that connect the Portland community to artists from around the country and world, including Africa, Europe and South America. Performances envelop all five senses and explore life issues – from the choreography of Africa to theater that looks at Chilean history.
Enjoy guided “flights” around the world that help us embrace new perspectives and feel connected to the truth and beauty of art in all forms. Through open communication and diverse cultural perspectives, art blossoms and changes our life. After dark, head to The Works, a cool warehouse venues with 10 nights of live music, rock shows, dance parties, video art, drag balls, experimental performances that will rock your nights.
